To strengthen its operational systems, Good Neighbors International Uganda (GNIUG) seeks to recruit a competent and experienced professional for the position below.

Position: 01 Vacancy
Location: Pallisa Area Office
Reporting to: Head of the Admin Department and Country Director
Duration: One (1) year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability
Probation Period: Six (6) months
Working Hours: Full-time (40 hours per week)

Position Overview
The Area Coordinator is responsible for providing overall leadership, coordination, and operational oversight of the Pallisa Area Office. The role ensures effective planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of programs while maintaining compliance with GNIUG policies and donor requirements. The Area Coordinator will lead the field team, office operation, coordinate program implementation within the Community Development Project (CDP) areas, manage stakeholder relationships and ensure that projects are implemented effectively and contribute to the achievement of GNIUG’s strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities
Field Office Leadership and Administration (25%)
  • Provide overall leadership and management of the Pallisa Area Office.
  • Ensure achievement of GNIUG’s strategic goals and objectives within the area of responsibility.
  • Make sound administrative and operational decisions in line with GNIUG policies, standards, and guidance from the Country Director.
  • Manage day-to-day administration including Human Resources and coordination of all field activities within the Community Development Project (CDP) areas.
  • Ensure effective coordination between program, finance, and administration functions within the field office.
  • Promote a positive working environment and uphold the values, standards, and reputation of GNIUG.

Project Management and Quality Assurance (40%)
  • Lead the planning, implementation, and coordination of projects within the CDP areas.
  • Ensure project implementation plans, procurement plans, and budget monitoring tools are developed and updated in coordination with Head Office.
  • Ensure that project activities are implemented in accordance with approved work plans, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Support the development of strategic program documents including concept notes, project proposals, and implementation plans.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of project activities and achievements.

Monitoring, Reporting & Documentation (10%)
  • Support the development and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, and learning plans and tools.
  • Monitor project progress against agreed targets, timelines, and budgets.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of field reports.
  • Ensure that project data and results are accurately documented and reported.
  • Provide feedback to project teams and management to strengthen program quality and effectiveness.
  • Facilitate learning and reflection within the team to improve program outcomes.

Finance, compliance and Resource Oversight (10%)
  • Monitor project budget utilization and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Review field-level financial documentation and accountabilities in coordination with the finance team.
  • Oversee responsible use of project resources in the area office.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational financial and procurement procedures.
  • Support budget forecasting, monitoring, and reporting processes.
  • Ensure proper management and safeguarding of organizational assets and resources at the field office.

Partnership, Coordination and Representation (15%)
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with District Local Governments, community leaders, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent GNIUG in coordination meetings, sector forums, and stakeholder engagements as required.
  • Promote the visibility and credibility of GNIUG programs within the area of operation.
  • Support advocacy, communication, partnership building, and resource mobilization initiatives.

Minimum qualifications and experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Project Management, Education, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in Project Management or Development Studies is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of four (6) years’ progressive experience in project implementation within a development or humanitarian organization.
  • At least two (2) years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded programs.

Terms and conditions.
  • Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned to GNIUG salary scale.
  • Contract renewable subject to performance and funding.
