Role Description
The Tire Technician will report to the Operations Manager. The Technician is responsible for service, diagnosis and repair a range of tires used for cars, trucks and agricultural machinery and equipment.
Responsibilities
1. Inspect machine and Vehicle Tires for signs of wear and areas of potential failure.
2. Examine the tire treads to determine if they are wearing evenly, check for debris that has lodged within the treads that pose a puncture threat.
3. Run diagnostic tests to see if the tires are properly balanced and securely attached.
4. Perform Tire Repairs: these repairs tend to include patches to repair cracks or holes in the tire’s tread but can also involve replacing individual tire components, such as valve tubes, if the rest of the tire is structurally sound.
5. Perform repairs to balance the tires and ensure steady performance.
6. Periodically rotate tires to ensure that they are wearing evenly.
7. Check tires to ensure that they are properly balanced and perform further diagnostic tests for reliability.
8. Replace Tires to ensure safe vehicle and machine operation.
9. Make Recommendations to management about tire care or replacement.
10. Undertaking mechanical preventative and corrective maintenance on all plant, vehicles, farm machinery (tractors, planters, sprayers, combines, spreaders, harrows, trailers, etc).
11. Maintaining and repairing various kinds of petrol and diesel engine & motor vehicles.
12. Working within the agreed time as stipulated on the work schedule
13. Early communication of any risks, issues and concerns related to personal performance and job responsibilities
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
1. Proven work experience as a tire technician.
2. Attention to detail.
3. Extensive knowledge of tire patterns and material composition.
4. Ability to lift heavy objects.
5. Ability to work in a crouched or standing position for extended periods.
