Role Project Lead
Reporting Line Program Manager, Integrated Systems

The Agrifood System Transformation for Youth Employment (ASTYE) program in Uganda is a transformative initiative designed to address systemic challenges hindering agricultural development and youth employment, particularly for young women. Funded by the Mastercard Foundation and implemented in partnership with DSG, AGRA, and GOAL, ASTYE aims to create dignified and fulfilling work opportunities for young people while strengthening Uganda's agrifood ecosystem.
DSG is seeking a highly experienced Project Lead - Farmer Production Companies (FPCs) to support the Program Manager of Integrated System by translating strategic direction into execution and coordinating technical actors. The Project Lead is expected to ensure that all project activities are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards across all selected ASTYE Uganda implementation geographies.
In This Role, You Will Make An Impact By:
Project Delivery and Coordination
•Lead day-to-day implementation of ASTYE’s FPC development and strengthening workstream in line with approved workplans and budgets.
•Oversee rollout of standardized FPC formation, governance, and operational models across target geographies.
•Coordinate sequencing of FPC activities with complementary ASTYE components (e.g. mechanization, soil mapping, solar milling etc.).
Technical Oversight and Quality Assurance
•Support development and refinement of FPC operating models, including governance structures and membership models.
• Ensure application of standardized tools and templates for FPC registration, governance, financial management, and reporting.
•Oversee design and delivery of training curricula for FPC members and leads.
•Monitor quality of FPC support delivered by partners and service providers.
•Support integration of youth and women into FPC ownership, governance, and management structures.
•Support refinement of FPC business models to enhance commercial viability and sustainability.
Field Operations
•Support planning and coordination of field-based FPC rollout activities.
•Oversee verification of FPC formation milestones and operational readiness.
•Ensure structured capture and management of FPC and farmer-level data.
•Prepare technical updates and inputs to program reports.
Coordination, Reporting, and Learning
•Coordinate closely with the Program Manager, Integrated System.
•Support cross-component integration with Data and Information and Input Systems departments.
•Prepare technical updates and inputs to program reports.
•Contribute to learning, reflection, and adaptive management processes.
To Succeed In This Role, You Bring
Education & Professional Experience
•Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Cooperative Management, Business Administration, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
•At least 8 years of relevant professional experience.
•Experience coordinating field-based programs and multi-partner implementation.
•Experience in capacity building, enterprise development, and value chain programs.
Leadership & Technical Competencies
•Strong understanding of farmer organization models, cooperatives, and agribusiness operations.
•Familiarity with different farmer output aggregation models currently used in Uganda.
•Strong coordination and communication skills.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with GIS, database systems, or data visualization tools is an advantage.
•Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local Ugandan languages is an asset.
