MECHANICAL INSPECTOR (BUILDING CONSTRUCTION)
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Our client a Leading International Construction Company has won a tender for a large Project in Uganda.
We are looking to fill this position with professionals with proven experience working in the construction industry.
THE JOB
The Mechanical Inspector will be tasked with inspecting and maintaining equipment and scheduling maintenance plans for all mechanical equipment as required and in accordance with the equipment manufacturer's specifications, good engineering practice, and mechanical standards. The Mechanical Inspector shall effectively monitor, assess, coordinate, and inspect the construction work and plant equipment.
Main tasks and responsibilities;
- Identify gaps in the mechanical processes and implement strategies to close gaps and improve equipment reliability, and sustainability, and reduce maintenance costs.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to minimize equipment downtime. Ensure mechanical installations for the plant conform to approved standards to ensure sustainability and eliminate breakdowns.
- Provide technical support by responding to requests for mechanical problems for all mechanical work.
- Ensure equipment installations are reliable, safe, and in good condition at all times.
- Evaluate spare needs, identify critical spares, place appropriate orders and monitor usage.
- Ensure proper planning of major works and resources for the same.
- Responsible for manpower engagement and training for the mechanical maintenance team.
- Timely documentation of reports for mechanical issues and technical reports.
- Work with contractors and suppliers on our maintenance activities by ensuring high quality of work and compliance with all company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements of health and safety legislation, standards, procedures, and practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
- The job holder should have the following qualifications;
- Minimum Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5 years experience of which 2 years should be in building construction site
- Professional affiliation to a relevant professional body

- Be aware of the project scope and provide technical support for information requests prior to and during the construction phases.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Team player and collaborator with other teams in the organization.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management.
