We recently hosted an amazing webinar, “Performance Pains & Gains: Rethinking Performance Management,” and it was packed with insights from some industry heavyweights.

We had four incredible keynote speakers on board: Hilda Kabushenga Kragha, the CEO of The African Talent Company; Kenneth Makanga, Managing Partner at BDO East Africa; and once more, Kenneth Makanga, who’s the Managing Partner at BDO East Africa, and last but not least, Jackie Kamunyu, the HR Director at HR Beyond Limits.

These experts dove into some intriguing topics, and we’re here to give you a rundown of what went down.

1. The Evolution of Performance Management:

First up, we explored the evolution of performance management.

Hilda Kabushenga Kragha pointed out how it’s no longer the same old rigid process. It’s become more fluid and employee-focused.

They stressed that continuous feedback, individualization, and data-driven insights are driving these changes.

Employees now want real-time feedback and personalized growth plans.

No more of those dreaded once-a-year reviews!

2. Tech’s Role in Performance Management:

Kenneth Makanga, from BDO East Africa, jumped into the tech side of things.

Technology is playing a critical role in how organizations manage performance.

We’re talking AI, machine learning, cloud-based solutions, and employee self-service.

AI helps organizations analyze data, identify trends, and provide predictive insights, while the cloud and self-service tools enable real-time access and empower employees to take charge of their own performance goals.

3. Talent Supply vs. Demand in Uganda:

One of the real eye-openers came from our discussion on the talent supply and demand gap in Uganda. Apparently, there’s a 3x imbalance in favor of talent demand.

Both Hilda Kabushenga Kragha and Kenneth Makanga talked about how strategic positioning as an outsourcing hub could be a game-changer.

This means tapping into a global talent pool, bringing in skills, and simultaneously developing local talent. A win-win situation!

4. The Profitability of Outsourcing:

Last but not least, Jackie Kamunyu from HR Beyond Limits shared some practical examples of how outsourcing can be profitable and beneficial for organizations. It’s all about cost efficiency, access to global talent, and keeping the focus on your core competencies.

So there you have it, a whirlwind tour of the “Performance Pains & Gains: Rethinking Performance Management” webinar.
