Water Pump Operator

Operate, monitor and maintain the main water pumps to ensure a continuous and reliable water supply to hatchery ponds, systems and other operational areas.

Key Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma/Certificate in mechanical and production engineering/water engineering/Plumbing/Electrical or any other related fields
  
• Experience in pump operation and water management
  
• Knowledge of pump operation, plumbing, and basic hydraulics.
  
• Ability to identify basic mechanical faults
  
• Understanding of aquaculture water requirements is an added advantage
  
• Ability to work outdoors and under physically demanding conditions.
  

• Operate and maintain pumps, valves according to the supply schedule.
  
• Ensure proper water flow rates and pressure to the hatchery ponds and other operational areas.
  
• Monitor pump performance including the motor temperature, pressure and vibrations.
  
• Coordinate with water supply and control technicians to maintain constant and reliable water supply to the hatchery ponds.
  
• Conduct daily checks on pumps, suction lines, discharge pipes and valves
  
• Coordinate with Hatchery and Engineering teams to ensure optimum water supply and maintenance are achieved.
  
• Coordinate and implement all maintenance schedules related to main pumps
  
• Record and report pump operation activities and incidents.
  
• Implement water conservation measures in line with sustainability practices.
  
• Follow electrical and mechanical safety protocols when operating the pumps and valves.
  
• Report any breakdowns and assist in troubleshooting minor operational issues.
  
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager
