Job descriptions & requirements


 Key Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Generate reports, inventories and orders in the Unit; 

2.    Generate budgets and account for use of physical resources of the Unit 

3.    Manage the use of laboratory equipment and facilities; 

4.    Requisition, maintain and account for financial and other resources;

5.    Prepare and supervise students’ practicals; 

6.    Liaise with and provide support to the academic staff in the teaching of practicals; 

7.    Implement and maintain guidelines and regulations to ensure quality assurance, control and safety in unit;

8.    Induct and mentor junior staff in the unit on technical skills;

9.    Perform any other related duties as may be assigned by the Supervisor.

 Required Qualifications

i.                             Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Technology – Chemistry or Bachelor of Science Technology – Chemistry or Bachelor of Food Science and Processing Technology or Bachelor of Food Science and Technology or Bachelor of Industrial Chemistry or Bachelor of Analytical Sciences or Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Equivalents.

ii.                            Added advantage:

a)   Having a Diploma in Pharmacy,

b)   Having worked in an analytical laboratory,

c)    Having in medicine manufacturing,

d)   Having worked as a quality personnel

 Experience

At least 3 years relevant working experience

 Skills/Competences

i.                            Customer Care; 

ii.                          Ability to communicate precisely and concisely; 

iii.                         Analytical skills; 

iv.                         Proficiency in using machines and computers.
