Senior Legal Officer

Required Qualifications

1. An Honor’s Bachelor of Laws Degree;
   
2. A Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC);
   
3. Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with a valid practicing certificate;
   
4. A Master of Laws Degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
   
5. Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience at the rank of Legal Officer in a Law firm or legal unit of a reputable organization in the areas of intellectual property and criminal law.
   

• Supervise junior legal officers and other staff providing legal support work;
  

• Participate in planning, organizing and preparing the work programme;
  

• Represent the university in all legal matters;
  

• Participate in the management of the activities within the Department by providing technical guidance;
  

• Prepare and /or review legal opinions;
  

• Participate in the review of legal/court documents for completeness and accuracy;
  

• Participate in court case preparation work and prepare draft pleadings for filing;
  

• Conduct research and analyse legal matters pertinent to the university;
  

• Participate in the review of existing rules and regulations;
  

• Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
