Senior Herbarium Curator-Department Of Plant Sciences, Microbiology And Biotechnology

Required Qualifications

1. PhD in Botany (specializing in plant taxonomy);
   
2. MSc. Botany;
   
3. Honours BSc. Botany/Zoology.
   

1. Oversee the day today running of the herbarium and botanic garden and provide technical guidance in the operations and activities;
   
2. Coordinate with the head of department to ensure that the herbarium and botanic garden run smoothly;
   
3. In charge of the general curatorial activities of the herbarium and the botanic garden;
   
4. Oversee the development of the herbarium and garden collections, data bases and associated hardware including workstations, computers, herbarium scan etc.
   
5. Participate in conducting research including field work that would lead to the publication of taxonomic monographs and other literature;
   
6. Teach and supervise students and conduct practical sessions at the herbarium and botanic gardens.
   
7. Maintain communication with collaborating institutions.
