A. Purpose of the Engagement
To provide professional sales services to support Storymoja’s revenue growth, market expansion, brand visibility, and customer engagement for books and stationery products within the assigned territory. The sales executive shall focus on achieving agreed commercial outcomes through strategic sales planning, market development, relationship management, and reporting.


B. Key Responsibilities
The Consultant shall:
1. Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve agreed revenue and market penetration targets for books and stationery products.
2. Identify, prospect, and onboard new customers, including bookstores, educational institutions, corporate clients, government entities, NGOs, and online retailers.
3. Manage and grow key client and partner relationships to achieve regional sales targets in both volume and value.
4. Plan, coordinate, and oversee marketing, promotional activities, and sales events within the assigned territory.
5. Collect, analyze, and report on market intelligence, including competitor activity, pricing trends, and customer insights to support management decision-making.
6. Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales databases, including KYC and Customer Account Forms (CAF) for all retail customers, and analyze this data to identify opportunities and risks.
7. Ensure adequate brand visibility in schools, bookshops, libraries, and other strategic locations.
8. Maintain an updated customer and sales activity list to track performance and identify growth opportunities.
9. Promote Storymoja books and ensure inclusion in school booklists across ECD, primary, and secondary schools where applicable.
10. Conduct regular field visits to schools and bookshops to originate orders, follow up on payments, and address customer needs, and document these activities in reports.


C. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
Performance shall be assessed based on the following non-exhaustive indicators:
  • Achievement of agreed sales and revenue targets for books and stationery products.
  • Growth in customer base and market share within the assigned region.
  • Number and quality of new institutional, retail, and corporate clients onboarded.
  • Strength and retention of key customer relationships.
  • Effectiveness of sales campaigns, promotions, and events.
  • Timely, accurate, and insightful submission of sales and market intelligence reports.
  • Quality of customer feedback regarding service levels and product satisfaction.
  • Contribution to the overall growth and sustainability of Storymoja through increased revenue, visibility, and market presence.

D. Qualifications & Experience
  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, Education, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of sales experience, preferably in the publishing, education, or book distribution sector in Uganda.
  • Experience selling to schools, bookstores, or educational institutions is a strong advantage.

E. Skills & Competencies
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Results-oriented with a passion for sales and relationship building.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple accounts.
  • Basic data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Good planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM or sales tracking tools.
