To take images of patients' bodies using xray and scans to help doctors diagnose and treat medial conditions.
Job descriptions & requirements
· Performing a range of radiographic examinations on patients to produce high-quality images.
· Assessing patients and interpret clinical requirements to determine appropriate radiographic techniques
· Ensuring that the reports are written/ recorded and/or relayed to the doctors.
· Recording all reports in the Eafya System.
· Stock taking and ensuring that required chemical and other items are duly provided by the store
· Formulating department procedures and instructing all involved on how to best to utilize them
· Providing instructions and information on special procedures like IVPs and enemas to the medical staff.
· Assessing efficiency and quality; and making recommendations required developments to ensure continuous improvement of the quality of services
· Observing and maintaining contact with patients during their waiting, examination and post-examination stay in the department;
· Assisting in more complex radiological examinations in consultation and senior staff; Working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team to ensure that an efficient service is provided to patients, for example by sharing specialist knowledge and expertise;
· Using initiative to priorities, deliver and time-manage workload effectively and, when appropriate, assisting senior staff to plan efficient control of work flow patterns within the department
· Communicating with patients and others in a clear, respectful and appropriate way;
· Positioning patients safely for examinations and, if necessary, adapting standard techniques depending on medical conditions associated with disability, illness or trauma;
· Dealing confidently with difficult situations
· Recording imaging identification and patient documentation quickly and accurately and observing protocols to ensure compliance with patient confidentiality standards
· Learning new techniques and technologies as required by professional bodies and implementing new standards and developments in the unit
· Understanding and observing health and safety at work and welfare issues, including ionizing radiation regulations, to protect yourself and others;
· Undertaking quality control checks on X-rays and associated equipment, and contributing to quality assurance and audit initiatives;
· Ensuring that equipment is regularly checked for malfunctions and any faults are reported;
· Reporting incidents of injury to yourself or others according to departmental procedures;
· Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and tidiness within the department.
