Key responsibilities
Strategy & branding
- Develop and implement Brass for Africa’s marketing strategy, working in collaboration with the Director of Development, with the objective of growing Brass for Africa’s audience, driving leads and converting donors
- Oversee the organisation’s brand identity and ensure that all marketing activity adheres to these guidelines
Marketing campaigns
- Plan and deliver effective multi-channel marketing campaigns, from concept to execution, including fundraising appeals
- Write compelling copy for marketing campaigns, tailored to different audience segments, styles of content and channels.
- Create on-brand graphics, using a tool such as Canva
- Ensure brand consistency in tone, voice and visual style across all channels
- Work closely with the Marketing & Communications Officer to produce social media content for campaigns and engagement
CRM, email marketing & website
- Manage and optimise the CRM, including segmentation, lifecycle, conversion journeys and retention, ensuring compliance with data privacy and email regulations
- Build and deliver email marketing campaigns across customer lifecycle stages, including email automation
- Run paid search advertising (Google Ads)
- Collaborate with the Director of Development on website management and UX optimisation
- Monitor and improve the website’s SEO performance
Social media
- Line manage the Marketing & Communications team, and oversee their work
- Develop and implement Brass for Africa’s social media strategy
- Be responsible for all social media output for Brass for Africa
- Assist with content filming at events
- Deliver paid social advertising
Print, partnerships & press
- Devise and manage marketing partnerships and comms swaps with relevant organisations
- Develop and deliver influencer marketing activity
- Contribute to Brass for Africa’s PR strategy and execution
- Support the wider team with required printed marketing materials
- Establish collaborations with mainstream media for special features, shows and event coverage
Reporting
- Monitor marketing regularly in order to inform future strategy
- Track statistics for channel and content performance, including key metrics, trends and ROI
- Produce regular marketing reports
Other
- Liaise with other departments within Brass for Africa to share news and updates, and to receive any key information to inform marketing activity
- Present marketing plans and results to key stakeholders when requested
- Conduct research related to marketing
- Monitor external marketing activities and trends to inform internal decisions
- Stay up to date on platform changes, new features, emerging trends and best practice
- Manage marketing budgets to achieve optimal ROI
Qualifications required
- A degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or related field. Post graduate qualifications, special certifications are an added advantage
- Any special courses in marketing, social media marketing, graphic design or related skills
Skills & experience required
- 5+ years in a senior marketing role
- Proficiency with digital marketing channels (email, social media, paid media, website)
- Experience in CRM management and knowledge of data compliance
- A solid understanding of platform-specific best practices, social media trends and algorithms
- Experience leading successful marketing campaigns
- The ability to approach marketing content both creatively and strategically, with demonstrable experience
- Strong storytelling and copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences and platforms
- Competence in using marketing tools such as Beacon, MailChimp, Hootsuite, Google Analytics and Meta Business Suite
- Analytical skills for reviewing performance metrics and generating actionable insights
- Good photography and videography skills (at a smartphone level)
- Photo, graphic and video editing skills using tools such as Canva and CapCut
- Experience managing marketing budgets
- Line management experience
