Job descriptions & requirements
We are looking for a capable and detail-oriented Legal Officer to join our team.
What you will do:
- Draft, review, and manage loan agreements, MOUs, and other legal documents
- Ensure compliance with Ugandan financial regulations, including the Tier 4 Microfinance Institutions and Money Lenders Act
- Advise management on legal risks and regulatory matters
- Support debt recovery and repossession processes
- Liaise with external lawyers, regulators (URA, UMRA), and government bodies
- Support registration of securities under the Chattels Securities Act, 2014
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognised university
- Post-graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (Law Development Centre)
- Minimum 2 years of legal practice, ideally in financial services or microfinance
- Experience with contract drafting and debt recovery is an advantage
- Practical, solutions-oriented, honest, and detail-oriented
