Position Designation: Legal Assistant 

Function: Administration and compliance 

Location: Kampala, Uganda 

Company: Uganda Baati Limited 


Reporting to: Legal & Compliance Manager 


Main purpose of the position: 

The main purpose of the position is to assistant provide advice on legal matters within the  business legal environment that shall ensure success of the organisation. 


2. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in providing legal advice, legal briefs, and opinion to senior management 
  • Assist in supporting UBL in Liaising with external lawyers to facilitate the collection and preparation of information related to court matters. 
  • Work with the Legal Manager to ensure that the company`s commercial, contractual, and other legal interests are adequately protected. 
  • Collaborate with all departments to assure legal adherence for all transactions.
  • Assist in the implementation and enforcement of e Company procedures and policies.
  • Assist in preparing and editing legal correspondence & documents for UBL.
  • Representing UBL in courts of law as well as supporting it to meet legal obligations.
  • Undertake legal research and drafting of necessary documents in line with the prevailing legal framework and Company Vision. 
  • Undertake responsibilities of the secretary to internal meetings as required.
  • Assist in identifying risks and propose alternative options to reduce the risks involved in prospective company transactions.  
  • Undertake administrative duties and other duties as may be assigned.

4. Qualifications required: 

  • Minimum academic qualification:
  • A Bachelors’ Degree in Law and should be enrolled as an advocate


  Qualifications as an added advantage:  

  • Diploma in Management or Human Resources Function. 
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Tax and Revenue Administration 


Experience required: 

  • General work experience (years): A minimum of Three Years of relevant professional experience working from a legal related institution in a busy environment.
