2. Kyangwali – Kikuube District (Western Region, Uganda)
Period: 1 year and 4 months (March 2026 – July 2027)
Job Purpose
To drive NASECO's farmer outreach and productivity objectives by establishing and managing regional demonstration sites. The role focuses on delivering hands-on training to smallholder and commercial farmers, ensuring the adoption of best agronomic practices for high-yield, high-quality maize grain production, and promoting sustainable farming through practical field guidance.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Demonstration Site Management: Establish, manage, and monitor demonstration sites.
• Farmer Training & Extension Services, Design and deliver practical training sessions for farmers on commercial maize production.
• Field Monitoring & Crop Health, serve as the first responder to field-level challenges, diagnosing problems and providing immediate mitigation strategies to farmers to prevent yield loss.
• Technical Agronomic Support, provide expert advice on the correct and safe use of fertilizers and agrochemicals.
• Data Collection & Reporting, prepare detailed field reports using company-designated technology, documenting crop stages, pest pressure, farmer activities, and weather impacts.
• Stakeholder Relations & Team Collaboration
• Build and maintain trust-based relationships with partner farmers
• Participate actively in team meetings and share field insights
• Perform any other temporary duties related to maize demonstration and field research.
Minimum Job Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture in Rural Innovation, Extension, Crop Science, Agriculture, or any related Agriculture related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of experience in field extension services, agronomy advisory, or commercial crop production. Experience specifically with maize grain production is highly preferred.
• Competence: Good understanding and knowledge of Agronomy; Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer care skills; Self-driven, high level of prioritization and initiative; Data analysis and report writing skills; Ability to ride a motorcycle and possessing a valid riding permit; Computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Runyakitara speaking.
