Company Location
UTCL is located along the Kampala Jinja highway near Lugazi municipal council in Buikwe district approximately 48 kilometers from Kampala City and 40 Kilometers from Jinja opposite Mt ST Mary’s College Namagunga.
Company Main Activities
The company mainly deals in the production of tea where 80% of the sales are for the international market and the local market 20%. Made Tea is exported to Mombasa in Kenya to the Auction market with other tea companies around East Africa and sold thereafter. The company also deals with other activities which include afforestation, coffee, cocoa and Bananas.
UTCL produces over 3.5 million kilos of tea annually 10% of Uganda’s national output
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance and repair of factory machinery and equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and perform timely corrective repairs to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper operation of processing machines in line with production schedules.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, and workshop equipment in good condition.
- Observe and enforce safety procedures and factory standards.
- Keep maintenance and repair records and report major faults to management.
Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Mechanics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in factory or industrial machinery maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and manuals.
- Knowledge of safety practices in an industrial environment
Salary Range: Ushs. 500,000 – 600,000
