Team members collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including governments, private sector actors, and development partners, to drive impactful and scalable agricultural solutions.
Role Description The Facilitator and Moderator will lead in-person meetings, workshops, and stakeholder dialogues to support Kilimo Trust’s agricultural value chain initiatives in Busia. This is an on-site contract role focused on planning and guiding interactive sessions, ensuring that discussions remain inclusive, productive, and aligned with project objectives. Day-to-day tasks include preparing facilitation materials, coordinating with project teams and local partners, moderating panel discussions and group work, documenting key outcomes, and sharing clear summaries and action points. The role also involves engaging participants from different backgrounds, managing time and expectations during events, and providing feedback to project staff to improve future sessions.
Qualifications

  • Strong facilitation and moderation skills, with experience leading workshops, training sessions, or community meetings.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and manage group dynamics.
  • Background or strong interest in agriculture, rural development, or related fields within the East African context.
  • Ability to plan events, organize logistics, and coordinate with multiple partners and team members on-site.
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation of meeting outcomes, decisions, and action plans.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of local languages spoken in Busia and surrounding areas is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with individuals from different cultures, genders, and socio-economic backgrounds.
  • Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Development Studies, Communication, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in NGO or development project environments is beneficial.
