Key responsibility
STRATEGIC PLANNING
• Initiate & implement strategic plan and documentation for attainment of STM mission
FUNDRAISING
• Identify opportunities for interventions to improve maternal health and initiate resource mobilization in collaboration with Managing Director STMCda and leadership at partner institutional level
• Identify & negotiate strategic funding partnerships
• Support grant writing, both in country and for Save the Mothers Canada (STMCda)
• Raising and negotiating with government & NGO for grants
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
• Accounting officer for STMEA
• Oversight of annual audit process
LEADERSHIP
• Coordinate the key stakeholders of STMEA, STMC, STM USA, UCU, MOH and Local governments to ensure smooth running of STM activities
• Ensure that the STM governance tools and permits are maintained in current status
• Be the driver of strategic thinking, planning and implementation in consistency with mission, vision of STM
• Initiate STM EA Board meetings and report to the Board the progress towards the STM vision and any challenges that may require the Board’s intervention
• Initiate policy development, management and implementation
• Oversee and guide the Annual Conference or events with staff and/or external stakeholders
• Weekly review meetings with MD STMCda
• Collaborate with UCU faculty and administration in support of the MPHL program
• Teach in the MPHL program
• Supervise MPHL dissertations
• Advise and mentor students and staff
PARTNERSHIPS
• Initiate and utilize new partnerships in execution of the STM mission
• Act as ambassador of the STM MPHL program in East Africa
• Supervise, budget and report on MBFHI initiatives to the STM-EA Board, reporting to the
• Grant funder through the funding Board
• Budget, oversee and report directly to the MD of STMC on dispersion of Canadian funds
• Oversee the dispersion of other STM funds and report to the STM-EA Board.
• Provide direction for the MBFHI program
• Support the STM-EA Board in selection of an MBFHI Director as activity warrants and funds available to support
• Performance management and supervision of an MBFHI Director
• Collaborate in MBFHI Advisor training
HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT
• Guide the recruitment, selection, motivation, mentoring and evaluation of the STMEA staff.
• Identification of individual staff gaps or learning opportunities, working with the individuals to develop plans to address 1 or 2 gaps per year and associated goals.
• Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the STM Boards
Job Specifications:
• A minimum of a Masters degree in a health-related discipline such as Masters of Medicine in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Sexual and Reproductive Health, Public Health and any other equivalent post graduate degree.
• Experience with International Programs and Finance Management
• At least five years’ experience in leadership.
• A Christian faith-based background is required
