Company Description Refugee Mental Health Network is a refugee-led, women-led nonprofit organization focused on mental health awareness, education, and support for refugees, especially refugee women and young people. The organization addresses issues such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, and trauma related to forced displacement, sexual violence, and gender-based violence. Our mission is to restore hope and rebuild lives by creating safe spaces for healing and empowerment within refugee communities.
Under Refugee Mental Health Network is Kindred Refugee Career Acceleration Programme. An 8‑week Career Development & Work Experience Programme combining professional training, mentorship, and practical work experience within RMHN and the Kindred social enterprise. Participants will gain exposure to work readiness, professionalism, entrepreneurship, marketing, digital skills, social enterprise operations, and mental health awareness.
Role Description This is a hybrid, on-site Digital and Content Marketing Trainee role based in Kampala. The trainee will support the promotion and visibility of Kindred’s social enterprise products and services through digital marketing and content creation activities, while gaining practical experience in marketing and communications. Day-to-day tasks will include creating and managing content for digital platforms, supporting social media campaigns, assisting with photography, videography and content development, engaging with online audiences, and helping maintain relationships with customers and partners. The trainee will be expected to communicate respectfully and professionally at all times.
Qualifications
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a willingness to communicate respectfully with different audiences.
- Interest in digital marketing, content creation, and social media, with a willingness to learn and support marketing activities.
- Willingness to support content development, social media engagement, digital campaigns, and audience outreach.
- Basic creativity and an interest in developing engaging content for digital platforms.
- Good teamwork, time management, and organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar digital tools and social media platforms.
- Willingness to work on-site in Kampala and learn in a multicultural environment.
- An interest in social impact, mental health, or working with diverse communities is an advantage.
- Previous work experience is not required; enthusiasm, creativity, willingness to learn, and a positive attitude are highly valued.
