In 2014, the organization established the Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS), a mixed boarding secondary school registered as an international institution with the Ministry of General Education and Instruction in Juba, South Sudan. The school is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified South Sudanese or Ugandan. Candidate to fill the vacant position of Deputy Headteacher.

JOB SUMMARY
The Deputy Headmaster is a senior Management (DHM) position at LASS. The DHM provides direct support to the Headmaster in the administration and management of the school; He provides an oversight of the LASS administration in alignment with the core goal, mission, and core values, directly oversee all school procurements, coordinate the work of all the departments in the school, ensure proper planning, budgeting, and accountability of funds, ensure a high level of discipline in the school by coordinating with both teachers and students, and represent the headmaster whenever he is off station to accomplish administrative tasks.


ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.0 Strategic Leadership and School Management
i. Support the Headmaster to ensure that the vision, mission, and core values of the academy are well articulated, shared, and understood by administration, staff,\ students, and parents.
ii. Ensures that biblical principles and focus on Jesus Christ are central in all operations of the school.
iii. Supports the Headmaster to provide leadership, good management, and strategic direction of the school in alignment with the East African Ministries' vision, mission, and core values.
iv. Coordinates all the departments in the school and ensures effective operations of the school on a day-to-day basis.
v. Supervise heads of departments in the school to ensure quality delivery of teaching and efficient assessment of learners in accordance with set standards.
vi. Lead in the design and implementation of the annual school program to ensure proper coordination of all departments in the school.
vii. Supports the Headmaster to supervise all staff to ensure that school policies and procedures are strictly adhered to and are kept up to date.
viii. Develop a culture of respect and good behaviour by creating appropriate ethics and setting high expectations for all within the school community.

2.0 Procurement and logistical management
i. Supports the Headmaster to ensure procurement procedures and policies in the school are strictly adhered to, to ensure value for money and eliminate waste of school resources.
ii. Review all purchase requests and expense reports by different departments to ensure proper documentation is made, submitted, and that there is value for money
iii. Support the headmaster to enforce an effective management of school assets and other resources by ensuring systems, policies, and procedures for the acquisition, use, and disposal of resources are in place and operational.
iv. Provide Leadership to the school procurement committee and ensure the procurement system and procedures are followed.

3.0 Monitoring and evaluation
i. Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching to determine improvement strategies for effective learning.
ii. Oversee, track, and evaluate academic standards and progress, and ensure continuous improvement.
iii. Compile academic activity reports with recommendations in line with Set targets and work plans.

4.0 Staff Management
i. Support the headmaster in recruitment and selection of new staff while working closely with other administrators, and ensure that job descriptions and performance management for all staff are based on clear job roles and responsibilities.
ii. Take centre stage in planning and organizing orientation for all new staff and students joining the school on the vision, mission, and core values of the organization, as well as the LASS culture in general.
iii. Support the headmaster in Enforcing and ensuring observance of the professional code of conduct by the teachers and proper conduct of all other employees of the school.
iv. Maintain and manage school, staff, and students’ documents and records efficiently and safely.

5.0 Ensuring Compliance with Legal Requirements
I. Responsible for ensuring LASS programs are compliant with the policies of the Government and educational institutions in South Sudan regarding registration or licensing of the school, safety protocols, labour law, financial act, taxation law, child protection, curriculum, and other applicable laws or policies
ii. To ensure compliance, quality standards, timely preparation, and submission of LASS reports, including daily, weekly, monthly, termly, and annual reports.
iii. To ensure observance of the professional code of conduct by the teachers and proper conduct of all other employees of the school.
iv. To monitors day-day running of the school and provide daily, weekly, monthly, and termly reports to the headmaster about the affairs of the school.
v. To design and oversee the implementation of an effective duty roster and school routine

6.0 Stakeholder Management:
i. Develop constructive networks with the government, Higher education institution officials, external examination bodies, as well as other leadership-related programs.
ii. Build a collaborative learning culture within the school and actively engage with other educational institutions to build effective learning.
iii. Create and improve effective working relationships with all people involved with the school and community, and work proactively to resolve any issues that may arise.
iv. Maintain sound policies for the security, supervision, and maintenance of the school environment and ensure that all health and safety regulations are met.
v. Stay informed on South Sudan and Ugandan government's requirements for higher institutions and private education.
vi. Work to nurture and maintain close cooperation with Restore Leadership High School and other like-minded schools.
vii. Any other duties that may be assigned to him/her from time to time by the Headmaster.

7.0 HR Functional Support:
i. Assist the Headmaster in day-to-day HR coordination, including tracking staff attendance, leave schedules, and duty rotas, and submitting periodic summaries to the Headmaster for review.
ii. Support the Human Resource Management function in preparing documentation for staff performance reviews and professional development plans, ensuring all recommendations are routed through the Headmaster for approval.
iii. Serve as a point of contact for staff A's welfare concerns, documenting issues discreetly and escalating them promptly to the Headmaster with practical recommendations.
iv. Help compile and maintain anonymized staff feedback on working conditions, morale, leadership, structure, and sorts, presenting findings to the Headmaster to inform staff retention and motivation strategies.

8.0 Students’ welfare and Staff development.
i. Identify professional staff development needs and gaps and make recommendations to the Head teacher.
ii. Identify, mentor, and groom potential heads of departments in the school.
iii. Empower and support the LASS students' council body to enable their students to take the lead in leadership and influential positions in the school.
iv. Ensure appropriate health and welfare of both students and staff at LASS.
v. Ensure proper maintenance of hygiene, health, and compound at LASS
vi. Develop, motivate, and lead all staff to achieve the highest professional standards

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education from a recognized institution of learning,
2. Post Graduate qualification in Education Planning & Management or Counselling & Guidance, or any other related field, will be of added advantage.
3. At least Five (5) years of experience in a similar position, or in a relevant Senior Management Position,
4. iv Must be a practicing Christian. Attainment of training and practice in discipleship, biblical coaching, and mentorship is required.
5. Desire to work with students-exhibits patience and empathy when dealing with students,
6. Willingness to learn and grow under the instruction of teaching faculty and in a professional environment,
7. Ability to work under pressure with minimum supervision, and deliver timely results,
8. Experience working with children, preferably in a school environment,
9. Must have NO record of conviction in any Court of Law, nor any record in relation to abuse or neglect of children,
10. Must have a track record of reputable moral standing, child respect and protection, and be able to adequately represent LASS on different forums while upholding the integrity of the school, among others.
