The Head of Data & Analytics is responsible for transforming Kijani Forestry’s operational, carbon, and commercial data into decision-grade insights and external-facing reports.
DataArchitecture & Analytics Strategy
●Design and maintain Kijani’s organization-wide data architecture and analytics stack.
●Ensure seamless data flows between field systems, MEL repositories, carbon models, and reporting tools.
●Define analytical standards, metrics, and reporting logic using MEL-validated datasets.
●Ensure scalability of data systems as Kijani grows across projects, geographies, and carbon models.
Analytics, Forecasting & Decision Support
●Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that support:
○Carbon forecasting and delivery planning
○Operational performance management
○Financial and operational planning
●Translate validated datasets into actionable insights for leadership and functional teams.
●Build scenario and forecasting models (e.g. survival, growth, SOC, credit issuance timing).
●Proactively surface risks, inconsistencies, and performance trends.
Carbon, MRV & MEL Data Collaboration
●Partner closely with the MRV–MEL Director to ensure analytics and reporting are grounded in validated, audit-ready data.
●Work with the Head of Carbon to support carbon modeling, MRV planning, and certification needs.
●Support integration and scaling of digital MRV (dMRV) tools alongside MEL systems.
●Maintain alignment between field data, MRV indicators, and carbon modeling inputs
External Reporting & Disclosure
●Own the production and coordination of all external reporting, including:
○Investor and board reports
○Carbon buyer due diligence materials
○Impact, ESG, and sustainability reports
○Donor, grant, and partner reporting
○External international and national communications
●Ensure consistency across all external narratives, metrics, and figures.
●Coordinate internal review and sign-off processes (MEL validation, Carbon technical review, leadership approval).
●Act as the final compiler of truth for any externally shared data products.
Field Systems and Tool Enablement
●Support the design and improvement of field data collection tools in collaboration with Operations and MEL.
●Ensure tools are practical for field teams while producing analytics- and reporting-ready outputs.
●Embeddata capture into SOPs, training, and operational workflows.
Providestructured feedback loops to improve usability and data completeness
Team Leadership & Capacity Building
●Build and managea
small Data & Analytics team (analysts, reporting specialists, GIS/data engineers as needed).
●Develop internal data literacy and reporting skillsacross
teams.
●Document reporting processes, definitions, and assumptions to ensure continuity.
Foster a cultureof
clarity, accountability, and learning arounddata
use.
Qualifications and competences
● Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics,
Environmental Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or a relatedquantitative
field.
Science, Environmental Economics, ●Master’s degree in Data Analytics, Data Public Policy, or a related field preferred but not required
● 5+ years of experience in data analytics, analytics
leadership, or decision- support roles.
● Demonstrated experience producing external-facing reports for investors, donors, buyers,
regulators, or boards.
●Experience building dashboards and reporting pipelines (e.g. BI tools, spreadsheets, or custom
analytics stacks).

o Experience supporting carbon markets, climate finance, or nature-based solutions.
o Familiarity with ESG, impact reporting frameworks, or
sustainability disclosures.
o Experience workingin
Sub- Saharan Africa or
similar operating contexts.
o Exposure to digital MRV (dMRV)
or spatial analytics systems.
Experience supporting investor due diligence processes
