We are seeking a competent and experienced Clearing and Forwarding Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all customs clearing operations, ensuring timely and compliant cargo clearance, resolving URA-related matters, and leading a team of declarants to achieve high levels of efficiency and accuracy.
Oversee all customs declarations and clearing processes within the URA systems.
Resolve URA-related issues, including system rejections, queries, blocked entries, and compliance challenges.
Ensure adherence to the East African Community Customs Management Act (EACCMA) and URA regulations.
Liaise with URA officials on pending or escalated matters.
Review and approve customs entries before submission.
Manage end-to-end clearing processes for imports, exports, transit cargo, warehousing, and exemptions.
Coordinate with transport, logistics, and customer service teams to ensure timely shipment release.
Supervise, coach, and manage a team of declarants.
Provide accurate guidance to clients on duties, documentation, and clearance timelines.
Maintain accurate records and prepare regular clearing performance reports.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Customs Management, or a related field.
Professional customs certification (URA CST, EACFFPC) is an added advantage.
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in customs clearing and forwarding operations.
Strong working knowledge of URA systems (ASYCUDA World, CDS).
Proven ability to resolve declaration and compliance issues.
Experience supervising or managing declarants is required.
