Industry Structure (Scope of Work)
The role involves handling industrial structural projects, including:
- Factory buildings
- Warehouses & storage facilities
- Processing plants
- Administrative & utility buildings
- Heavy-duty foundations (machinery foundations, structural supports)
- Roadworks, drainage systems, and site development
- Structural steel works and RCC structures
- Industrial-grade utility infrastructure (water supply, sewerage, stormwater systems)
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Civil Engineer with strong experience in industrial construction and infrastructure development. The candidate will oversee planning, site execution, structural works, and project coordination for various industrial facilities in Mukono, Uganda.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Planning & Execution
- Plan and supervise industrial construction activities based on engineering designs and structural standards.
- Prepare BOQs, cost estimates, project timelines, and material requirements.
- Ensure construction meets structural, architectural, and safety standards.
- Monitor progress and ensure timely project completion.
2. Site Management
- Oversee day-to-day site operations, ensuring proper workflow and coordination.
- Conduct inspections to verify quality, safety, and compliance.
- Resolve on-site technical issues promptly.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
3. Structural Engineering & Technical Work
- Review structural drawings, foundation plans, steel structures, and RCC designs.
- Supervise fabrication, erection, and curing of structural components.
- Conduct soil tests, load analysis, and structural assessments.
- Support value engineering, design modifications, and cost optimization.
4. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure adherence to Ugandan construction standards and industrial regulations.
- Implement safety protocols and lead toolbox meetings.
- Coordinate approvals, inspections, and permits with local authorities.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- 5–12+ years of experience in industrial, structural, and infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of industrial building standards and structural engineering.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Project, and civil engineering tools.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team management skills.
