In doing this, it focuses on issues of child health, child rights and family livelihoods that affect families in rural and hard to reach areas in Uganda.

Job Summary: The Business Development Officer will provide sustainable business development services to FOs, SCPs, Family Life Schools (FLS) of mama, baby and family classes and smaller groups of ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities. The incumbent will improve business processes that increase income of farmer organisation (FO), Satellite Collection Points (SCPs) and smaller groups for ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
  • Provide leadership to FOs, SCPs, Family Life Schools (FLS) of mama, baby and family classes and smaller groups of ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities in reviewing and implementing business plans on food and income security.
  • Carry out monthly assessments of progress made against the results and gaps of the OCA process conducted in 2016.
  • Provide routine mentorship in business development to FOs, SCPs, Family Life Schools (FLS) of mama, baby and family classes and smaller groups of ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities.
  • Support the institutionalization of financial and admin policies and practices for FOs, SCPs, Family Life Schools (FLS) of mama, baby and family classes and smaller groups of ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities.
  • Supervise and mentor the investment clubs for FOs, SCPs, Family Life Schools (FLS) of mama, baby and family classes and smaller groups of ART and pregnant mothers at health facilities.
  • Regularly monitor and mentor business plans and growth of VSLAs

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants should hold Degrees in Business Administration and Management, Social Sciences, Agronomy or Marketing. Post graduate qualifications in business and Management will be an added advantage.
  • At least two years of professional working in a similar environment.
  • Skills in business mentorship
  • Previous exposure and experience in business management for smaller groups and informal sector.
  • Application of the cooperative act and regulation in Uganda.
  • Basics in financial and admin policies and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills
