Job Title: Building Material Marketing Specialist

Location: Uganda

Reports to: Marketing Manager

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Purpose

The Building Material Marketing Specialist is responsible for developing and executing marketing strategies to promote the company’s sanitary ware products (toilets, basins, faucets, showers, bathtubs, and accessories) and building material solutions across Uganda. This role focuses on brand awareness, lead generation, customer engagement, and market positioning through a mix of digital marketing, trade shows, promotional campaigns, and channel partnerships. The Marketing Specialist works closely with sales, product, and customer service teams to drive business growth and strengthen the company’s presence in the building materials sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans and campaigns for sanitary ware and building material products, aligned with business objectives and sales targets.
  • Conduct market research to identify customer needs, market trends, competitor activities, and growth opportunities in the Ugandan building materials industry.
  • Define target customer segments (contractors, developers, architects, retailers, project owners) and tailor marketing messages accordingly.
  • Set clear marketing KPIs (brand awareness, lead generation, conversion rates) and track performance.

2. Brand Management & Promotion

  • Build and strengthen the company’s brand image as a leading supplier of quality sanitary ware and building materials in Uganda.
  • Develop consistent brand messaging across all marketing channels (print, digital, social media, events).
  • Create compelling marketing collateral, including brochures, catalogues, product datasheets, case studies, and presentations.
  • Manage the production of promotional materials (flyers, banners, giveaways) for trade shows and events.

3. Digital Marketing & Content Creation

  • Manage the company’s online presence, including the website, social media platforms (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube), and email marketing.
  • Create engaging content (product videos, installation guides, customer testimonials, blog posts) to educate customers and generate interest.
  • Plan and execute digital advertising campaigns (Google Ads, social media ads) to drive traffic and leads.
  • Monitor and analyse digital marketing performance (website traffic, engagement, conversions) and optimise campaigns accordingly.

4. Trade Shows, Events & Promotions

  • Plan and coordinate participation in industry trade shows, exhibitions, and construction fairs to showcase products and generate leads.
  • Organise product launch events, showroom openings, and customer appreciation events.
  • Develop promotional campaigns (discounts, bundle offers, loyalty programs) to drive sales and customer engagement.
  • Collaborate with retail partners on in‑store promotions and point‑of‑sale materials.

5. Market Research & Competitive Intelligence

  • Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and product offerings in the building materials sector.
  • Gather customer feedback and insights through surveys, interviews, and field visits.
  • Analyse market data to identify emerging trends, customer preferences, and new product opportunities.
  • Provide regular market intelligence reports to management to support strategic decision‑making.

6. Channel Partner Support

  • Support distributors, retailers, and showroom partners with marketing materials, training, and promotional support.
  • Develop co‑marketing programs with key partners to expand reach and drive sales.
  • Ensure consistent brand representation across all sales channels.

7. Sales Support & Lead Generation

  • Generate qualified leads through marketing campaigns and pass them to the sales team for follow‑up.
  • Develop sales enablement tools (presentations, brochures, product guides) to support the sales team.
  • Track and report on lead generation and conversion metrics.

8. Reporting & Budget Management

  • Prepare regular marketing reports, including campaign performance, lead generation, ROI analysis, and market insights.
  • Manage the marketing budget effectively, ensuring cost‑efficient allocation of resources.
  • Track marketing spend against budget and report variances.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree or professional certification in Marketing (e.g., CIM) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • Minimum 4–6 years of experience in marketing, preferably within the building materials, construction, or sanitary ware industry.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing marketing campaigns, digital marketing, and event management.
  • Experience working in Uganda or East Africa, with a good understanding of the local construction market, is highly desirable.

Language Requirement (Mandatory):

  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) – must be able to create professional marketing content, prepare reports, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in local languages (e.g., Luganda, Swahili) is an advantage for customer engagement and community marketing.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools (Google Analytics, social media management platforms, email marketing software).
  • Proficiency in graphic design tools (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and marketing automation tools.
  • Strong understanding of the building materials market, including customer segments, distribution channels, and competitive landscape.

Soft Skills:

  • Creative and strategic thinker with the ability to develop innovative marketing campaigns.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong project management and organisational abilities.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make data‑driven decisions.
  • Proactive, self‑motivated, and results‑oriented.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams (sales, product, customer service).

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driving permit and willingness to travel within Uganda for events, customer visits, and field research.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours to meet campaign deadlines and event schedules.
  • Prior work experience in Uganda or East Africa is highly desirable.
