Location: Spes Medical Center, Namugongo

Position Type: Full-time

Expected Salary: UGX.500,000 gross


Job Summary:

Spes Medical Center is seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. The Accounts Assistant will be responsible for providing financial and administrative support to ensure effective, efficient, and accurate financial operations. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of the center and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

Financial Transactions:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
  • Record daily financial transactions in the accounting system accurately and timely.
  • Manage petty cash transactions and ensure proper documentation and reconciliation.


Accounts Payable and Receivable:

  • Assist in the management of accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
  • Reconcile supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
  • Monitor aging reports and follow up on outstanding receivables.


Bank Reconciliation:

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all financial transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are addressed promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all bank transactions.


Financial Reporting:

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
  • Support the finance team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide financial data and reports as requested by management.


Payroll Processing:

  • Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate employee payroll records and resolve any payroll-related issues.


Audit and Compliance:

  • Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.


Administrative Support:

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records and filing systems.
  • Provide administrative support to the finance team and other departments as needed.
  • Assist in the implementation of financial policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting or finance role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite (particularly Excel).
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a medical or healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of medical billing and coding.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.


Working Conditions:

  • This is a full-time position based in Namugongo. Or kitintale.
  • Standard working hours apply, with occasional overtime as required.
  • The role may involve occasional travel for training and meetings.
