About RIWE-AFRICA
About RIWE_AFRICA
Rangelands Interventions for Women Empowerment–Africa (RIWE_AFRICA) is an Indigenous non-governmental organization registered and operating in Uganda, working primarily with pastoralist and agro-pastoralist communities in Uganda’s Cattle Corridor. We seek to address socio-economic, cultural, and structural barriers affecting vulnerable women, youth, and children through a justice-centered and services-layered model anchored in three (3) programming areas of Health, Education, and Livelihood
With support from the Laerdal Foundation, RIWE_AFRICA is implementing the Bridging the
Birth Gap in Uganda’s Karamoja Region project, specifically targeting Moroto and Napak Districts.
This is a Saving Lives at Birth initiative that aims to reduce preventable maternal and newborn mortality among pastoralist communities by strengthening emergency response at birth, improving community–facility referral systems, enhancing birth preparedness, and generating evidence through an embedded research component.
