Job descriptions & requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Social work, Social sciences, development studies, or related field. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the refugee context in Uganda, and West Nile in particular.  

  • At least 3 years' experience with people management. 

  • Very good understanding of both global and national protection standards and approaches.  

  • Experience designing technical components of protection programs, including demonstrated knowledge of protection information management systems.

  • Very good organizational and management skills. 

  • Exceptional spoken and written English as well as analytical skills. 

Project Cycle Management and implementation 

  • Coordinate, plan and monitor Denmark Media project activities in Rhino Camp and Imvepi according to DRC Project Cycle Management (PCM) Guide and donor compliance. 

  • Coordinate with the other Program Managers, the Country Protection Manager and Programme Development and Quality Manager to ensure the highest quality of the sectoral interventions, and the coherence between all projects, ongoing and proposed, according to the overall strategy.

  • Ensure high quality project activity narrative reports and financial reports are delivered timely as per the agreed reporting schedules, in close collaboration with the Program Development and Quality Manager and Country Finance Manager.  

  • Formalize and develop project related operational tools and training modules 

  • Lead on monthly, quarterly and annual donor reporting. 

Accountability and reporting 

  • Guided by the DRC Programme Handbook, continuously monitor and develop relevant accountability initiatives within relevant project program as well as strengthening the effort to document the impact of activities 

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements including procurement 

Partner Management and Capacity Strengthening 

  • Conduct regular capacity assessments of local partners and develop tailored capacity-strengthening plans.  

  • Coordinate partner performance review meetings and monitor budget utilization against approved plans and projections.  

  • Provide technical support and guidance on project implementation, donor requirements, work planning, budgeting, and access to technical expertise.  

People Management 

  • Lead and manage project staff members including coaching, ensuring coordination, and capacity development.

  • Supporting respectful and positive working relationships which allow for the effective implementation of all activities. This is to be achieved through leadership, team building, day-to-day support, capacity-building and strong and generalist knowledge of DRC’s core sectors. 

  • Lead and support recruitment processes and ensure that relevant staffing structures are in place and are reflective of appropriate gender and diversity balance.
