About the team

Our Power & Infrastructure Business Line is working on a broad range of projects supporting the Energy transition. We develop global solutions and manage projects for customers worldwide. This includes several large scale pilot projects to decarbonize the existing power generation plants, but also projects focusing on green gases, including production, storage, and use green gasses

What you’ll be doing

For all activities of the Process cluster, we seek to appoint a junior project engineer – thermal processes, who can prove maximum 3 years of successful experience and a specific interest for innovative technologies, who is prepared to become immersed in a range of diverse, multi-disciplinary subjects, to help with the development and implementation of pilot projects, and to interact with and give support to our stakeholders. As junior project engineer – thermal processes, you will play a key role in supporting the design, analysis and optimization of thermal installations and processes. Under the guidance of experienced engineers and experts, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of thermal solutions that cater to our clients' unique requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate individual to grow their career in thermal engineering and contribute to cutting-edge projects.

Your responsibilities as Junior Project Engineer – thermal processes

Manage or participate to projects related to combined cycle power plants, innovative thermal processes and industry processes in Europe and internationally (especially in Middle-East and Latin America). Such projects may be related to boiler retrofit projects, green and alternative fuels projects, thermal storage, O&M optimization, …, Conduct in-depth simulations, analysis, and modelling of thermal processes using state-of-the-art software tools to optimize performance and enhance efficiency, Collaborate with senior experts to assist in design and evaluation of thermal systems and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of thermal systems within larger projects, Foster a customer centric attitude; commercial or business development experience is a plus, Develop and maintain a strong technical network within your activities and respective expertise field, Manage successfully collaborations with partners and subcontractors, Participate in field visits and site assessments to gather data, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide on-site support, Contribute to the testing, calibration, and validation of thermal equipment, ensuring strict adherence to industry standards and safety regulations, Contribute to the development of new products and service activities related to thermal power plant process optimization, decarbonization of existing and new assets, … (from fuel specifications to the emission monitoring), Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and technologies and help to evaluate their potential for Engie and its industrial customers, Follow established protocols for quality control, risk assessment, and project management to deliver projects within set timelines and budget constraints.

Have a Master degree in chemical, mechanical or electromechanical engineering and at least a 1st professional experience in the power industry and/or other relevant industrial sectors, Have knowledge of fundamental principles of thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, Have strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data to make informed engineering decisions, Have experience in the interaction with technical teams, plant operators and plant managers, as well as with business developers, identify promising technologies to meet the needs of potential clients, and come up with a development strategy in collaboration with other experts. Are you able and willing to be the driving force to realize innovative multi-disciplinary projects, Have excellent communication skills to work effectively in a team and present technical information clearly, Have a proactive and enthusiastic approach to learning and problem-solving, Feel at ease on-site and detailed technical discussions as well as in high level meetings, Like to work in a team and are you open to work with different technical teams within Laborelec (e.g. with chemistry, electrical, materials or I&C experts), Have autonomy in attitude and driven by achieving results, Speak English, French and/or Dutch fluently, or at least you are eager to learn fast, Agree to travel on a regular basis (Europe and internationally) for missions of varying duration
