Head Teacher

Company Description Jasper Primary School-Nyairongo is transforming rural education in Western Uganda by providing innovative, inclusive, and resilient learning opportunities for children in underserved communities. The school uses a project-based learning (PBL) model to help over 600 learners build creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and adaptability. Role Description The Head Teacher will provide academic and administrative leadership for Jasper Primary School-Nyairongo, overseeing daily school operations and ensuring a safe, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring teaching staff, guiding curriculum planning and implementation, and promoting project-based and learner-centered teaching practices. The Head Teacher will work closely with the school management and community stakeholders to align school activities with the institution’s vision and values, monitor student progress, and support interventions for diverse learning needs. The role also involves leading staff development initiatives, encouraging the use of modern teaching methods and digital tools, and ensuring compliance with educational standards and policies. This is a full-time, on-site role located in Nyairongo, Western Uganda and the salary will be between 400,000 to 500,000 Uganda shillings per month.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

• Hold a recognized teaching qualification/certification in Primary Education and/or Early Childhood Development (ECD) with additional certificates an advantage.
•  Have relevant work experience as a teacher in a primary school and/or ECD setting.
•  Have relevant experience in an administrative, coordination, supervisory or school leadership role.
• Demonstrate good knowledge of teaching, learning, learner assessment and school administration.
• Have strong leadership, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Have knowledge of Runyoro or another Bantu language commonly spoken in the community.
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively with learners, parents, teachers and community members.
• Be committed to inclusive, child-centered and community-based education.
• Be willing to work and reside in or around Nyairongo Village, Kikuube District.
• Be available to start work immediately.
