A leading electricity retailer and distribution company in Uganda is looking for enthusiastic young people for the positions of Graduate Trainee - Electrical Technician. The Graduate Trainees should have successfully completed a diploma course in Electrical Engineering.

The graduate training / apprenticeship will run for 6 months starting June to December. Each graduate trainee works for 40 hours a week in shifts (i.e. day and night shift) under the supervision of a qualified electrical engineer / technician. 

Graduate trainees will be PAID a monthly work allowance.

The graduate trainee will be required to provide support and help to;

• Create, maintain and repair the electronic components and equipment or devices that involve electricity.
• Work with Electricians and Electrical Engineers while on site to keep machinery and specialty equipment running correctly. 
• Use diagnostic devices to determine how electrical equipment is working
• Troubleshooting equipment, replacing old and installing new equipment
• Respond to client queries and technical needs.
• Provide support in the documentation and record keeping on maintenance and repairs undertaken.

Academic Qualifications:

A Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering

Students in the final year of education for a diploma/ degree in electrical engineering are also encouraged to apply, given that they can provide results of ALL semesters completed. 

Behavioural qualifications:
• Hard working and willing to learn from mentors. 
• Attention to detail given the sensitive nature of electrical distribution. 
• Good Observation - so as to spot any issues that may need resolving
• Polite to all customers and colleagues
• Team player and openness to engage with various categories of clients.
• High aptitude and logic - to be able interpret blue prints and scan them for any issue 
• Manual Dexterity - in order to work with hand tools, wiring and small equipment
• Good at problem solving and calming down frustrated clients. 
• Transparent and honest in all dealings.
• Understanding of the local language in the areas posted is an added advantage

Required Language Skills: English - Good
