District Nurse

The School Nurse serves as the primary health authority within the district, overseeing clinical services, policy development, and health education. This position requires a balance of direct student care, administrative oversight, and staff training.
Clinical & Student Care
Case Management: Provide comprehensive case management for students with complex or chronic health needs.
Specialized Plans: Develop and monitor Individual Health Care Plans (IHPs) for students requiring invasive procedures or classroom adaptations.
Emergency Planning: Create emergency action plans for students at risk of medical crises and contribute to the district’s overall emergency and crisis management strategies.
Special Education Support: Serve as a healthcare consultant and active member of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) team.
Policy & Compliance
Program Oversight: Coordinate the establishment, review, and implementation of school health policies to ensure alignment with legal, regulatory, and ethical nursing standards.
Public Health: Manage communicable disease control, including surveillance, outbreak management, and prevention protocols.
Documentation: Ensure all health services are accurately documented and analyze data for state-required reporting.
Staff Training & Consultation
Professional Development: Lead the training of staff on health services, including the safe administration of student medication.
Safety Coordination: Establish guidelines and provide training for the district’s First Aid/CPR/First Responder programs.
Consultation: Act as the primary healthcare resource for school personnel, students, and families.
Registered Nurse Illinois License Required
