Job Summary:
As a Coffee Trader, you will play a crucial role in all activities related to the sourcing of coffee. You will possess a deep understanding of the coffee value chain, leveraging this knowledge in all coffee trading activities, and discussions with suppliers and buyers. Your responsibilities include cultivating and nurturing relationships with suppliers and buyers, monitoring market trends, and effectively managing the coffee supply chain.
Responsibilities:
- Understand the company’s coffee sourcing needs, and identify and engage with coffee suppliers.
- Evaluate offers from suppliers, negotiate better prices, and ensure the agreed minimum quality standards are met.
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery by following up with suppliers as required. d) Drive sustainable and responsible sourcing initiatives.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing coffee suppliers while recruiting new ones.
- Update internal databases and maintain records of farmers, cooperatives, and aggregators.
- Monitor market trends, develop supply and demand scenarios, and capitalize on trading opportunities.
- Undertake additional responsibilities and duties as directed by the Chief Operations Manager.
Education, Experience, and Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Agriculture, Economics, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in coffee trading/sourcing/purchasing with a recognized coffee trading company in Uganda.
- In-depth knowledge of the coffee supply chain dynamics and coffee trade cost drivers d) Strong business acumen and excellent negotiation skills
- A customer-centric approach with excellent communication, presentation, analytical, and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in English and Luganda.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability and willingness to work longer hours as business conditions warrant. i) A valid driving license.
