Role Description The Assistant Lecturer – Anatomy is a full-time, on-site role based in Uganda. The position involves preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions in human anatomy to undergraduate and/or postgraduate learners. The role includes developing teaching materials, supporting curriculum implementation, and assisting with assessments, examinations, and student feedback. The Assistant Lecturer will supervise students in laboratories and dissection rooms, ensure adherence to safety and ethical standards, and contribute to academic advising and mentoring. Additional responsibilities may include participating in departmental meetings, engaging in scholarly activities or research, and supporting quality assurance and program development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in human anatomy and related biomedical sciences, with the ability to teach core and applied anatomical concepts clearly.
- Experience or training in medical or health sciences education, including preparation of lectures, practical sessions, and assessments.
- Ability to use educational technology and learning management systems to support teaching, learning, and student engagement.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively in a diverse academic environment.
- Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills, including ability to manage multiple teaching and administrative responsibilities.
- Master’s degree in Anatomy or a closely related discipline; a medical degree or progress toward a doctoral qualification is an added advantage.
- Commitment to ethical practice, student-centered learning, and continuous professional development in medical education.
- Previous teaching, tutoring, or demonstrator experience in anatomy laboratories or comparable settings is highly desirable.
