Have you always wanted to start and run your own impact-making organization?

OR Have you already registered an organization and you need to gain more skills in running it? Do you need funding for your organization? Are you a female graduate with an academic degree? 


THEN… Associations Academy is the place for you.

Many young women are searching for what they want to do in life. Many have ideas and need to help the vulnerable and voiceless women. Hhowever, they are limited by lack of skills and knowledge on starting initiatives to drive the needed change. Lack of resources and donor funding further limit their ability to put their ideas and initiatives into action.  The Associations Academy is for those who have already decided to initiate a CBO/NGO that makes a difference. Participants of the Academy are equipped with knowledge and skills to effectively start and manage organizations. They are equipped with knowledge and skills needed to mobilize resources for their project interventions.  The twelve-month training-based programme will help young female graduates to develop all the necessary skills to effectively run CBOs/NGOs and attract donor funding.


By the end of this course the participants will be able to:

• Understand how to start, initiate and manage an organization

• Understand different ways of resource mobilization

• Understand the principles of project development and proposal writing

• Organize the different components of a proposal in a logical flow

• Write an effective proposal according to donor’s requirements and guidelines

• Use of M&E frameworks in project design when developing a proposal

• Write good quality reports tailored to a target audience


Requirements

1) Bachelor’s degree (open to any field)

2) The Associations Academy welcomes applicants aged between 22-30 years of age who have overcome significant life challenges ranging from abuse, disability, poverty, war, discrimination, and/or exploitation Or, they could also be witnesses to social situations they wish to change so others do not suffer.

3) The Applicant must have a plan to start an organisation and/or initiative that addresses a social and/or environmental problem.

4) The Applicant should have a passion to make the world a better place and the strength to be a change maker

5) The Applicant must be able to commit 12 months to the Academy 

6) The Applicant must be able to participate in all academy training sessions

7) The Applicant must speak and understand basic English and have basic computer skills.


What we offer

1) Selected participants will qualify for a scholarship provided by our donors to cover the training fee and accommodation.

2) Graduates of the program will have access to a network of change-makers and donors worldwide.

STARTING AN ORGANIZATION AND ORGANIZATION MANAGEMENT

Organization management refers to the practice of planning, coordinating, and overseeing various elements within an organization to achieve its goals and objectives. It involves directing and guiding resources, people, and processes to ensure efficient operations and optimal performance. Organization management encompasses activities such as setting objectives, formulating strategies, allocating resources, making decisions, and fostering a productive work environment. Effective organizational management plays a crucial role in enhancing productivity, promoting teamwork, and driving sustainable growth within an organization.

Starting and managing an organization

• Identification of organization name 

• Identification of a Vision partner

• Formulation of Vision, Mission, objectives, Core Values, Programs and activities of the organization

• Development of byelaws of the organization (Constitution/Memorandum and Articles of Association)

• Registration of the organization

• Opening of the bank account 

• Developing Communication materials and a website

• Developing an organization structure  

• Developing organization Resource Mobilization plans (Strategic Plan, workplan, Organization Budget and Resource Mobilization strategy)

• Fundraising and Resource Mobilization Techniques


RESOURCE MOBILIZATION AND PROPOSAL WRITING

The ability of CBOs/NGOs to implement their project interventions is dependent on their access to donor funding. Access to these funds requires the submission of proposals for consideration by the potential donors. Project results should be effectively communicated and shared through good reports. For sustainable and effective implementation of project interventions, it is essential that CBOs/NGOs have the capacity to design, write and deliver high quality project proposals and reports.  Training on resource mobilization and proposal writing course aims to equip participants with skills in writing and presenting effective and successful proposals.
