Job Description/Requirements

Position Designation: Trade Marketing Manager Function: Marketing  

Country: Uganda 

Reports to (designation): Head of Marketing 


Main purpose of the position: 

Responsible for executing the trade marketing strategies across key channels, managing the 4Ps, and developing channel strategies 


2. Reporting into this position (designation and level) 

i. Routine/Direct: Trade marketing officers (N/A at the moment) ii. Functional/Indirect: Marketing Officers 


Key responsibilities: 

To create trade marketing plans and allocate the A&P budget across all channels and products. 

  • To drive robust brand visibility through strategic placements for our brands and products in the trade channel. 
  • To execute the trade marketing plans across all regions. 
  • To segment the customer base and work closely with the sales segments,  including exports to optimize channel strategies and maximize ROI ▪ To work closely with the marketing team to commercialize brand plans in the channels.  
  • To attend and present at trade shows and events on behalf of the business. 
  • To coordinate the creation and delivery of marketing materials and content. 
  • To monitor competitive activity to refine strategy and preserve market share. 
  • To report on data and industry trends relating to the competition.
  • To review post-mortems to refine and inform future promotional programs. 
  • To work with the sales team in designing and implementing the pricing  strategy in line with our Brand positioning 
  • To design and maintain a master promotional calendar to track activity across all channels to prevent conflicts and drive revenue. 
  • To oversee specific retail and distributor loyalty program developments and implementation across channels. 
  • To develop and manage e-systems for all marketing materials stocks and vendor management. 
  • To co-ordinate, launch and manage an e-commerce platform for the business ▪ Multi-tasking within the department i.e minimum 10% knowledge on  Corporate and Digital functions 
  • To undertake any additional tasks as may be advised by the supervisor. 4. Budgetary responsibility: 
  • Manage the market and travel budget appropriately to ensure an optimal ROI is  achieved across key channels 


KEY SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

Qualifications required: 

  • Minimum academic qualification: Bachelor's Degree (preferably Business/ Engineering / Science) 
  • Qualifications as an added advantage: Master’s degree 
  • Professional registration: Marketers’ Society 


Experience required: 

  • General work experience: Proven experience in a Trade Marketing and commercial strategy role. 
  • Specific to the position (level/discipline/years): Core expertise in Marketing with stints of 6 years.
  • Experience in the Building Materials, Construction or  related consumer industry will be an added advantage 
  • Industry: Eave marketing exposure in the consumer industry and strong channel insights experience.

  • English 
  • Local language proficiency

Additional/specific work requirements: 

  • Strong channel insights experience with the ability to generate and present  actionable recommendations to a diverse range of stakeholders at all  levels 
  • Strong commercial outlook and an ability to drive revenue growth through  marketing 
  • Highly Motivated and passionate about trade marketing 
  • Experience in working in a high-stress environment with minimum  supervision 
  • Strong analytical background or experience will be an added advantage
