Solar Sales Representative (Kampala)

Job Summary

Position Overview The job holder is expected to develop and execute strategic plans to achieve Solar PV sales targets and expand the customer base. Working broadly and collaboratively to achieve Solar PV growth across the country through prospecting, identification and understanding of customer requirements, designing and providing the right solutions, relationship building and retention; ensuring expansion of renewable energy and creating sustainable market presence of our solar PV Systems.

Job Description/Requirements

Job Purpose 

1. Achieve and exceed assigned sales targets.

2. Develop sales opportunities by prospecting, soliciting and identifying potential accounts

3. Building rapport with customers while providing technical information and explanations

4. Preparing and presenting quotations


Key Objectives:- 

1. Constantly scan for new credible sources of leads and sales opportunities for solar PV systems

2. Identify, pre-qualify, and acquire prospects for the sale of large commercial Solar PV Grid-Tie projects

3. Negotiate and structure Solar PV and Solar Integrated contract deals

4. Act as key point of contact between client and CEKL in project implementation

5. Continuously improve CEKL’s Large solar installation ecosystem including but not limited to financing partners, technical capability, project management etc.

6. Target and contact key decision makers in large commercial enterprises, hotels/resorts etc., to create a need and present new project opportunities, propose specific sales contracts, obtain fully executed contracts for new projects, and achieve business development goals

7. Develop and deliver high quality and professional Solar PV and Water Heating systems proposals to key decision makers in various sectors that builds confidence, generates excitement and creates results. 

8. Develop and cultivate long term relationships with prospective large commercial solar photovoltaic system consumers, government bodies, architectural, construction, engineering bodies and other related industries to help strengthen partnerships. 

9. Leverage on existing network and expand our product reach and repeat business through relationship building and exceptional customer experience

10. Establish and nurture relations with leading PV developers, keeping up to date with what is new in the renewable energy sector worldwide.

11. Represent the company at appropriate local and international forums, associations, trade shows/exhibitions, industry talks and other renewable energy platforms, updating management regularly

12. Strengthen knowledge in solar and photovoltaic systems in the industry, new local/international trends, commercial/consumer trends, ensuring that you are constantly updated 

13. Ensure compliance with industry and relevant government bodies, for any renewable energy policy updates, product specs and requirements.

14. Collaborate with technical team to properly coordinate project implementation, and operations support interface, and proactively address problems/customer issues, ensuring customer satisfaction.

15. Provide regular feedback to the management on market trends, competitive threats and opportunities to deliver greater value to our customers. 


Strategic reporting 

1. Document all sales activities, generate reports and keep records on transactions with clients.

2. Maintain accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales, and follow-up activities.

3. Maintain a data base for contractors, quantity surveyors, architects, real estate agents, commercial and medium/small scale developers etc. who can partner with our organization

4. Contribute to technical sales effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and course of action.

5. Advise management on strategic issues relating to product lines materials, new proposals and problem areas.


QUALIFICATIONS

• University graduate, preferably in electrical & electronics, renewable energy, energy engineering or related field

• Proven track record in technical sales & marketing. Able to deliver beyond set targets (Ugx. 60.0M per month)

• Thorough knowledge of PV System, Water Heating Systems and Power Back-up products/systems and installation, and all our product range. 

• Basic knowledge in troubleshooting of system installations

• A clear geographical knowledge of the region will be an added advantage


Qualities

• Quick learner, capable of grasping the structure & intricacies of the renewable energy business & markets.

• High business acumen.

• Excellent presentation and communication skills.

• Anility to build strong relations at C-Level.

• Ability to effectively communicate complex information and adapting it to specific customers.

• Strong relationship building skills with a high degree of responsiveness, reliability and integrity.

• Ability and willingness to travel is required; frequent and regular visits to prospects and customers.
