Job Description/Requirements
Assist the Principal Legal Officer in supervising staff, drafting legal documents and formulating compliance checklists and represent the university in all legal matters.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- An Honor’s Bachelor of Laws Degree;
- A Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC);
- Enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with a valid practicing certificate;
- A Master of Laws Degree from a recognized institution will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years relevant working experience at the rank of Legal Officer in a Law firm or legal unit of a reputable organization in the areas of intellectual property and criminal law.
- Supervise junior legal officers and other staff providing legal support work;
- Participate in planning, organising and preparing the work programme;
- Represent the university in all legal matters;
- Participate in the management of the activities within the Department by providing technical guidance;
- Prepare and /or review legal opinions;
- Participate in the review of legal/court documents for completeness and accuracy;
- Participate in court case preparation work and prepare draft pleadings for filing;
- Conduct research and analyse legal matters pertinent to the university;
- Participate in the review of existing rules and regulations;
- Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.
