Job Summary
To operate and drive a self-loading truck (equipped with a mounted crane, lifting system) to transport, load, and offload materials, equipment, and goods safely and efficiently in accordance with company policies, traffic regulations, and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in manual handling and a strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate self-loading truck to load and unload goods from trucks, containers, and storage areas, to various destinations.
- Position vehicle and operate the lifting crane to pick and place loads safely.
- Ensure loads are secured and balanced to avoid shifting or damage during transit.
- Carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report defects promptly.
- Maintain accurate records, including logbooks, delivery notes, and fuel usage.
- Comply with traffic laws, road safety regulations, and internal company policies at all times.
- Follow safety protocols and report any hazards or incidents
- Support with other transport and logistics duties as assigned.
- Collaborate with workplace teams to meet operational targets
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must possess a class CE license with a minimum of 3 years’ experience.
- Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or equivalent
- Certificate in operating self-loading trucks or truck-mounted cranes is an advantage.
- Prior experience in driving heavy trucks, preferably self-loaders is preferred
- Ability to lift heavy items and work in physically demanding conditions
- Basic understanding of warehouse safety procedures
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good time management and ability to meet delivery deadlines
