Q-Sourcing Limited trading as Q-Sourcing Servtec is a manpower management solutions firm operating in the East African Region in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and South Sudan.

On behalf of our client Microhaem Scientifics and Medical Supplies Ltd (MHS) ,  we are looking for a competent ,  skilled, and experienced  EHS Manager to work in Uganda .

Job Title: EHS Manager (Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager) â Medical Equipment Manufacturing

Reporting Lines: Director of operations

Supervisees (2): Environmental officer and Occupational Health and safety officer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to join our client in the medical equipment manufacturing industry. As an EHS Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees, protecting the environment, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. You will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive EHS programs and initiatives to create a safe and sustainable working environment.

Responsibilities:

EHS Compliance: Monitor and ensure compliance with all local, and state regulations related to environmental protection, occupational health, and all workplace safety at MHS. Risk Assessment: Identify potential hazards and assess risks in various operations, processes, and facilities. Develop strategies to mitigate these risks and prevent accidents and incidents. Safety Training: Design, deliver, and oversee safety training programs for employees at all levels. Ensure that employees are well-informed about safety protocols, emergency procedures, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE). Accident/Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into workplace accidents /incidents, injuries, and near misses. Analyze root causes and develop action plans to prevent recurrence. Emergency Preparedness: Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various scenarios, such as fires, chemical spills, and medical emergencies, natural disasters, death, bomb threats, among others. Conduct drills to ensure employee readiness. Environmental Management: Implement strategies to minimize the environmental impact of operations, including waste management, emissions reduction, and sustainable resource usage, power sources, and water systems. Health and Hygiene: Collaborate with medical professionals to monitor and improve employee health and hygiene programs. Promote a culture of wellness and provide support for occupational health concerns. Regulatory Reporting: Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory agencies in a timely and accurate manner. Stay current with evolving EHS regulations and requirements through constant training and updating of internal regulatory requirements. Auditing and Inspections: Conduct regular internal audits and inspections to assess EHS compliance across the organization. Address and implement any issues identified during these audits. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, top management, and external stakeholders to drive EHS initiatives, ensure alignment with business goals, and promote a culture of safety. Performance Metrics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of EHS programs. Use data-driven insights to continuously improve occupational health, safety and environmental performance. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and best practices related to EHS. Lead initiatives to enhance the overall EHS performance of the organization. Strategic planning

Qualifications:

Bachelorâs Degree or above/Major in Industrial Chemistry/Environmental Engineering/chemical engineering or related field. Masterâs degree preferred. Professional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), NEBOSH are highly desirable Knowledge of ISO 13485, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001 Proven experience 4+ years in EHS management, preferably within the pharmaceutical, and food manufacturing industries In-depth knowledge of relevant EHS regulations and standards. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and develop effective solutions. Experience in incident investigation, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation. Proficiency in using EHS software and tools for data management and reporting.
