This is an international humanitarian and development Non-Governmental Organization in General Consultative status with the (UN COESOC) United Nations Economic and Social Council, and one of the largest in South Korea. Established in 1991, the organization currently conducts missions around the world to improve quality of life and education standards, as well as to provide aid in areas of civil unrest or natural disaster. In order to develop and achieve the NGO objectives, Good Neighbors International Uganda is seeking to recruit the following employee:


Position: Project officer.

Number of Positions: (1)

Location: Pallisa Office 


Operations Officer will provide the necessary support for projects within an organization and assist the project team’s work in project implementation. 


Job Summary:  

The Project Officer will be responsible for the preparation and follow-up of projects in the several sectors of community development with Good Neighbors Uganda Pallisa District.


Key duties & responsibilities for operations officer

  • Work directly with the project team to help implement project goals.
  • Liaison with relevant units at the head office in the execution of the relevant activities
  • Liaise with the project lead to maintain the project schedule and efficacy.
  • Review project implementation and gather and report data on project execution.
  • Communicating with stakeholders at the ground level regarding project needs and goals.
  • Supporting the coordination and management of projects.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as scheduling meetings, etc.
  • Keeping track of and reporting on project progress.
  • Liaison with relevant Uganda Government Ministries, NGOs, and stakeholders, including participation and reporting on all relevant meetings.
  • Completing any tasks assigned by the supervisor in an efficient and timely manner.


Qualifications, Skills, and Experience: 

  • The applicant must hold an advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following:  Social Sciences field relevant to international and community development, Industrial or community psychology, Projects management, etc.


Other related Courses are required.

  • A minimum of three years (3 years)  of progressive professional work experience in project planning, designing, implementation, and evaluation from a reputable organization is required.
  • Previous experience working in international development organizations an asset.
  • Knowledgeable with government systems and structures especially, district local governments, and other line ministries, institutions, departments, and implementing agencies. 
  • Excellent coordination, mobilization, and organization skills. Able to work in a diverse environment and keep track of multiple tasks and priorities and adhere to deadlines.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in report writing, donor compliance, and budget management.
  • Ability to work in hard to reach hard to stay areas and familiar with programming for vulnerable children especially young girls and boys.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, with ability to work with people from diverse cultures
  • Strong computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software including MS Word processing, PowerPoint presentation, Excel spreadsheets, e-mail, and web-based research.
  • Ability to speak ATESO & LUGWERE and Fluent in English both written & spoken.
  • Post-graduate qualifications in project planning and management are an added advantage.

Terms & Conditions

  • A Full-time (40 working hours per week) contract until December 31st, 2023, is offered, subject to a three-month probationary period. Subject to funding, the position may be renewed.
  • Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience in line with Good Neighbors’ Salary scale
  • Final Terms and Conditions will be discussed at the contract stage.
