Job Description/Requirements


We are the Centre for Economic Social Cultural Rights in Africa (CESCRA), a Non-Government Organization that seeks to promote the economic social, and cultural rights of especially women, youth, and the girl child. Basically, we work with grassroots communities in extremely marginalized and remote areas of Kyangwali Refugee settlement and Buliisa districts, where we build the leadership capacity of grassroots actors (women and Girls) to team up and engage communities, the local government, and central government on matters related to girl children, adolescent youth and young women, Land, Housing and property rights and Girls sexual reproductive health rights and services. Apparently, we are implementing a European Union (EU) funded project titled “Advancing Peaceful Co-existence & Respect for Human Rights among Refugees & Host Communities in Northern Uganda.”

CESCRA seeks to recruit a qualified, competent, and passionate individual as a Programs Officer for a three-year project that focuses on Advancing Peaceful Co-existence & Respect for Human Rights among Refugees & Host Communities in Northern Uganda.


Duty Station:  Rhino Refugees Settlement in Terego and Madi-Okolo Districts  


Applicants should:

 (i) Hold a Bachelor’s Degree in law or an equivalent from any recognized university

 (ii) Have at least 5 years experience working on issues of refugees and host communities in Northern Uganda and demonstrated commitment to equity and non-discrimination. Knowledge of the 2006 Refugee Act and 2010 Refugee regulations will be an added advantage  

 (iii) Knowledge of the local language and cultures of the districts of operation (Terego, Arua, and Madi-Okolo Districts) is a must.   

 (iv) Must know and be willing to ride a motorcycle as part of the fieldwork day-to-day operations within the Rhino refugee settlement and host communities; movements beyond these areas will be arranged in accordance with different programs that may raise from time to time 

 (v) be willing to travel distances within Rhino refugee settlement, host communities, and beyond whenever duty calls since the project is implemented jointly in partnership with KRC and WORUDET in Bidibidi and Palabek refugee settlements respectively.

 (vi) Lugbara /Central Sudanic language of the Nilo-Sahara Language is a Must
