Position

Qualifications

Candidates must be New York State or Buffalo certified in the tenure area for which they are applying to teach.

It is required that candidates must attach a PDF or a screen shot of their certifications.

Experience

Preference will be given to applicants with experience in Music Therapy program. Prior experience teaching students with special needs is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• The music teacher for the NYSAA Program is responsible for developing and implementing a music program designed to meet the individual needs of students with special needs enrolled at specific Buffalo Public Schools.
• Consult with the student’s primary special education teacher to prepare, implement, and evaluate intervention plans for each student.
• Maintain all necessary and appropriate records including student engagement and progress
• Communicate with administrators, teachers, parents, and students regarding progress/status of music therapy program
• Participate in staff development focus on NYSAA students, parent meetings, and CSE annual review meetings as appropriate.
• Provide training & information to staff as requested.
• Assist classroom staff in developing instructional intervention & techniques that utilize activities associated with music therapy.
• Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Principal of OTC – PS 42.
  
  

Appointment

Appointment will be made by the Board of Education upon the recommendation of the Superintendent following assessment of training, experience, certifications, credentials and evaluation of service. Personal interviews shall be scheduled where appropriate.
