Job Description/Requirements

Global village Hotel is situated in Pakwach District, in northern Uganda, approximately 321 kilometres from Kampala. It is strategically located on the banks of the famous Mighty River Nile and immediately outside another famous land mark -  Murchison National park (approximately a 5-minute drive) and all its attractions. Its main purpose is to provide as yet unseen world-class tourism and hospitality services to a wide range of local and global tourists.

Job Purpose: 

The purpose of this role is to run the day-to-day operations of the Hotel (Hotel includes accommodation, restaurant, and tourism sections) including the restaurant, overseeing personnel, ensuring that the facilities are properly maintained, taking steps to ensure customer satisfaction, and overseeing the upkeep of administrative and financial growth and compliance. 


Key responsibilities:

  • Drive and deliver the profitability of the hotel by ensuring full occupancy in the accommodation section, a profitable restaurant in terms of cost/profit and correct food and drink inventory levels, innovative tourist activities, and a full events calendar as drivers of profit for the hotel.
  • Oversee budgetary expenditure by ensuring that all costs are well planned and budgeted for and expenses spent according to the agreed budgets by approving/ controlling expenditures
  • Drive excellent customer experiences to ensure repeat business and great referrals by ensuring meet and greet experiences for resident visitors, service check-ins for walk-in visitors, and handling customer complaints, always bearing in mind the principles of “the customer is king”
  • Coordinate and ensure smooth working between all departments/sections through great communication and planning structure inclusive of meetings where the need dictates.
  • Drive and maintain housekeeping standards to an agreed global standard in line with the hotel's desired star rating
  • Manage the hotel's staff, both permanent and temporary by ensuring that the right staff are hired for the right roles, that all staff are continuously trained in the areas required for them to deliver their roles to the right standards, and by maintaining staff discipline and motivation
  • Ensure compliance to all hospitality standards including environment, health and safety standards, Food and drink regulations and standards, and all statutory requirements (People and finance) 
  • Ensured flawless operations and administrative duties within the hotel.
  • Drive maintenance of the overall hotel to world-class standards, making sure that everything is working and safe, that the general appearance of the hotel and its grounds are neat, and that security standards are met and observed.


Education, experience, and skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in tourism and hotel management with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability in managing people and teams
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint.
  • Ability to think innovatively and continuously improve 
  • Proven ability to communicate simply and effectively.
  • Proven ability to drive for results and meet deadlines.
  • Proven ability to network effectively.
  • Utmost honesty and integrity.
  • Ability to live and work in a relatively remote location
