Lecturer – Microbiology

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To teach, supervise students, conduct research, and publish

KEY FUNCTIONS
1. Prepare well-researched lectures and delivers them to undergraduate students
2. Set tests, examinations and course works
3. Administer and invigilate tests and examinations
4. Mark tests, course works, and examination scripts, compile and grades examination results
5. Guide and advise students on their academic performance
6. Conduct research and disseminate research findings through conferences, seminars, and publication
7. Supervise undergraduate students undertaking research projects
8. Conduct seminars and tutorials
9. Attend students’ non-academic challenges and refer those that need further counseling
10. Carry out official administrative duties in the department as directed by the head of the department
11. Contribute to the university and wider society through community service

PERSON SPECIFICATION
1. Should have teaching content with a minimum qualification of Ph.D. In relevant field
2. Should have proven academic ability in research publication and teaching
3. Should have a minimum of two to three (2-3) years of teaching experience at a recognized academic institution
4. Should have supervised at least three (3) graduate students to completion
5. Should have a good track record of service to the public
6. Demonstrated computer literacy
