Background:
The Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is a Ugandan not-for-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases, through research and capacity development. IDI has six operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care, and Treatment; Training, Research, Laboratory services (including the CAP-certified IDI Core Lab & Translational Lab), Global Health Security, and Health System Strengthening. In order to successfully, implement this, IDI is looking for a competent and experienced individual to fill the position below:

General Summary:
The Human Resource Business Partner’s role is to align our HR programs with the Institute’s objectives. Working closely with the select Heads of function in the assigned unit, you will be responsible for the tactical and operational execution of the HR Strategy providing advice and guidance on people-related issues while acting as a change agent in supporting organizational change initiatives.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Strategic Planning: Collaborating with the HOD-HR and respective unit HODs to develop HR strategies that support organizational objectives, such as workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, and change management.
- Talent Acquisition: Manage the process for the assigned business unit by implementing effective recruitment and selection strategies that attract top talent and ensure a diverse and inclusive workforce.
- Employee Relations: Providing guidance and support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures, and employment laws to ensure a positive and productive work environment.
- Performance Management: support and implement the performance management system to enable managers to effectively evaluate (on a timely basis) and develop their employees' skills and competencies.
- Learning and Development: Developing and delivering training programs that enhance employee skills and support organizational goals.
- Compensation and Benefits: support the central team in collating and preparation of required inputs and provide advice that ensures that the organization's compensation and benefits programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with organizational goals.
- HR Metrics and Analytics: Collecting and analyzing HR metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and providing recommendations to senior management.
- Work together with the HOD-HR to ensure effective communication & consultation processes and build people engagement in the organization.
- Support the Organization's onboarding program so as to ensure new employees are integrated into the Institute and provided with the right information and resources for their success in their roles.
- Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Essential Educational Requirements:
- Undergraduate Degree in HR or related field.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in human resource management with a deep understanding of the core functions; Employee relations, Resourcing, L&D, Organizational Effectiveness, Reward, and D&I
- Adequate knowledge of current labor laws
- Proven track record of delivering results in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience working in the health sector is an added advantage
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
