Job Summary

The Head of Sales & Distribution at Y9 Microfinance is responsible for overseeing sales, distribution and marketing activities of the company. He/she will oversee the zonal operations and ensure that he/she defines, articulates, and implements the organisation's strategy for selling Y9 products and services and ensure product visibility. He/she develops forecasts and strategies to achieve sales and ensure profitability.

JOB PURPOSE (why the position exists and with what objectives)

The Head of Sales & Distribution at Y9 Microfinance is responsible for overseeing sales, distribution and marketing activities of the company. He/she will oversee the zonal operations and ensure that he/she defines, articulates, and implements the organisation's strategy for selling Y9 products and services and ensure product visibility. He/she develops forecasts and strategies to achieve sales and ensure profitability.

This position has the responsibility of driving business development and oversee that strategies are in place to increase markets and leads.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: University degree with a Sales and/or Marketing concentration.
  • MBA in Business development, Sales and/or Marketing.
  • A deep experience in FMCG or in a B2C company.


Work experience:

  • 8+ years’ experience.
  • 5+ years leading teams with high track record.


Computer skills: Proficient in the use of MS Office 


Language: Fluent in written and spoken English and Swahili

MAIN AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Collaborate with members of the Marketing team to penetrate key markets, define the approach for the overall sale of new business and account retention. In the below business tracks.

             - Acquire and secure B2B partnerships for Device financing.

            - Acquire and secure B2C partnerships for device financing.

            - Acquire and secure B2G partnerships for device financing.

  • Responsible for developing a comprehensive sales and distribution strategy to maximise sales opportunities and present to the CEO & management for review and approval.
  • Develop sales and distribution policies that reflect the organisation's goals.
  • Direct the Sales team in generating proposals that define a clear path to client satisfaction and revenue growth.
  • Work with the products & IT team to establish customer relationship management (CRM) systems and guidelines to manage customer relationships.
  • Foster relationships with new partners to achieve desired revenue and hit sales targets.
  • Influence senior stakeholders within customers' organisations and premier buyers in the industry.
  • Investigate factors impacting sales performance and provide comprehensive reports and solutions.
  • Leverage innovations to maximise revenue of traditional and digital assets and products.
  • Monitor changes in the industry and leverage them for business opportunities.
  • Outline objectives in key target areas such as sales volume, market share, distribution channels and profit margins to guide promotions and sponsorships.
  • Participate in forums to keep abreast of new changes in the industry and practices.
  • Provide input on sales incentive structure and key performance indicators to help monitor targets.
  • Provide input to the Content Development/marketing team based on customer and industry feedback.
  • Recommend changes in pricing structures in product lines or products.
  • Review sales performance by analysing performance reports.


2. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Comply with the provisions of the Bank of Tanzania and all governing bodies and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Live company’s core Principles and work proactively in a customer-related way in accordance with adopted procedures and best practices.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and external stakeholders to promote the company’s overall business objectives.
  • Ensure that confidentiality is respected and always maintained. 


3. PEOPLE MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with HR to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ talented and diverse group of high performing team members.
  • Provide oversight and direction to team members in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures and procedures. Coach, mentor and develop team members, including overseeing new team member onboarding and providing career development, planning and growth opportunities.
  • Empower team members to take ownership of their job and goals. Delegate responsibilities as needed and provide routine constructive feedback on performance.
  • Create a culture that is consistent with the organizations focus on team member engagement and that aligns with the organizations mission, vision, and values.
  • Lead team members using a performance management and development focused approach to assist in goal setting, two-way feedback, and performance development planning.
  • Lead team members to meet the organization’s expectations for productivity, quality, and goal accomplishment.


4. Perform any ad-hoc duties as assigned by supervisor.
