Job Summary:
The Head Chef will be responsible for overseeing the culinary operations of The Lawns Restaurant, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, presentation, and service. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary excellence, creativity in menu development, and strong leadership skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development: Create and update menus that reflect the restaurant’s concept and seasonal ingredients.
- Food Preparation: Oversee all aspects of food preparation, ensuring consistency and quality.
- Team Management: Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory, order supplies, and ensure proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Cost Control: Monitor food costs and implement measures to minimize waste and maximize profitability.
- Health & Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a clean and safe kitchen environment.
- Customer Satisfaction: Interact with guests to gather feedback and ensure a memorable dining experience.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a fine dining establishment. Minimum of 3 years of recent experience shall be within East Africa.
- Skills: Strong culinary skills, creativity, leadership, and excellent communication abilities.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with a variety of cuisines, including continental and local Ugandan dishes.
