Job Description

Title: Finance Manager

Remuneration: TBA depending on candidate experience

Start date: October 2020 on wards

Place of work: Kampala, Uganda

Reporting to: Country manager in Uganda

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree and post graduate degree in accounting with 3+ years of experience in a similar role.



About

Our client is a fast-growing financial technology company currently operating in Zambia, Tanzania and South Africa, with operations due to commence in Kampala, Uganda towards the end of 2020 and the start of 2021. The firm in Uganda will be delivering personal lending products from branch based channels, utilizing internally generated software and lending products backed by the IT and data analytics teams based in South Africa.


The Role

Responsibilities


  1. Management responsibilities
    1. Serve as a member of the executive team and assist in determination of company strategy

    2. Work with and manage a finance team

    3. Make the company  an adventurous and desirable place to work

    4. Contribute to growth of the company  as a key player in the Ugandan microfinance industry


  1. Accounting/Bookkeeping
    1. Daily reconciliations of entity transactions

    2. Preparations of monthly accounts

    3. Assist with the annual audit

    4. Annual budgeting

    5. Manage creditors and bill payments


  1. Taxation
    1. Manage the payroll function

    2. Lodge and reconcile indirect taxes (Payroll and VAT)

    3. Liaise with Uganda Revenue Authority where required


  1. Operational
    1. Work direct debits teams (external and internal) to manage collections

    2. Analyse and optimise accounting ratios to improve profitability

    3. Manage spending decisions

    4. Manage cash flow and external financing where required
