Position: Farm Manager -Mixed Farm

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Farm Manager to oversee the operations of our mixed farm. The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of diverse agricultural practices, including crop production, livestock management, and sustainable farming methods. This role is crucial for ensuring the productivity and efficiency of our farm operations.

Duties /Responsibilities:

Overall Farm Management:

• Plan and manage all farm operations, including crop production, livestock care, and equipment maintenance.
• Develop and implement annual farming plans, including crop rotation and livestock breeding schedules.

Crop Management:

• Oversee planting, cultivating, and harvesting of crops, ensuring optimal yield and quality.
• Monitor crop health, implement pest management strategies, and manage soil fertility.

Livestock Management:

• Supervise the care and management of livestock, including feeding, breeding, and health care.
• Maintain compliance with animal welfare standards and regulations.

Staff Supervision:

• Lead, train, and supervise farm staff, ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
• Schedule and delegate daily tasks to team members, providing guidance and support.

Financial Management:

• Develop and manage budgets for all farm operations, tracking expenses and revenues.
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for management review.

Sustainability Practices:

• Implement sustainable farming practices, including soil conservation, water management, and organic methods.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to improve farm efficiency.

Record Keeping:

• Maintain accurate records of all farm activities, including crop yields, livestock health, and financial transactions.
• Prepare reports on farm performance and productivity metrics.

Market Engagement:

• Coordinate with suppliers, distributors, and markets to manage inventory and sales.
• Build relationships with local businesses and customers to expand market reach.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in farm management, with a focus on mixed farming operations.
• Proven track record of managing diverse agricultural systems and staff effectively.

Skills:

• Strong knowledge of crop production, livestock management, and sustainable practices.
• Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in farm management software and technology.
• Familiarity with out-grower schemes is an advantage.
